Sydney Easter Show …. No. 3

22 March 2013

As you’re well aware by now, I’m not a great or active photographer.  But Jane has very kindly said I can “steal” her pictures.  And I’m not sure what went wrong, but Jane says that two of her crocheted items were hung wrong side out!

These are two beautiful items in the Cabinet of Excellence.  The cabinet contains some of the 1st prize winners from all categories of the Arts and Craft Section of the Show, so includes leatherwork, pottery, handweaving etc as well as knitting and crochet.

Cabinet of Excellence - Stranded garment and child garment

And these are two lovely garments produced by two “Kates”.  The adult sweater is stunning beautiful and won the Blue Ribbon in the “Stranded Garment, any size, partial patterning” category.  It was knitted by Kate Morris who was a member of my branch of the Knitters’ Guild until she moved to the USA a few weeks ago.  It’s SO well-made and is elegant.

The child’s cardigan is by another Kate – Kate Collins – who I don’t know (I don’t know EVERY knitter in Australia) and I really loved it when I got to handle it before the items were hung.  It’s meticulously knitted and a good modern design and colour.  The stitches are perfect and I really like the Celtic cables (a pity it wasn’t put on a padded hanger though).

Congratulations to both of you.  Very well-deserved.
